Potato Fry (Aloo Fry)

Hey beautiful homemakers...Today I am going to share a simple and easy recipe of aloo(potato) fry.This aloo fry with mild spices and light garam masala has great taste and makes Indian meal special.It is one of those dishes that you can easily prepare for a quick lunch or dinner option. You can have it with chapatis,parathas or even serve as a side dish with daal rice or plain khichdi.I hope you will try this out and let me know how it came out. Preparation Time: 10 Min

Cooking Time: 15 Min

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup Potatoes (Aloo) - sliced like french fries
  • 3-4 crushed/grated Garlic cloves (Lehsun)
  • 1/2 tsp. cumin (Jeera)
  • 1-2 Green Chillies (Hari Mirch) - Slit vertically
  • A Pinch of Asafoetida (Hing)
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric Powder (Haldi)
  • 1/4 tsp Red Chilli Powder (Lal Mirch Powder)
  • 1/4 tsp Garam Masala
  • 1/4 tsp Kalaunji Masala (Roasted mixed spices powder) (Will Share the receipe soon)
  • 1/4 tsp Coriander Powder (Dhaniya Powder)
  • 1/4 tsp Dried Mango Powder (Amchur Powder)
  • Oil - for Cooking 
  • Salt- to taste

Method:

  • Heat oil in pan or wok.
  • Add cumin and let it splutter.
  • Now add silted green chillies and crushed garlic.
  • When the garlic is lightly fried, add potatoes and turmeric.
  • Fry for few minutes on low flame, then add salt, cover and cook till potatoes are done. Stir occasionally to prevent burning.
  • When the potatoes are done add all dry spices except dry mango powder and mix well.
  • Fry for few more minutes and mix amchur powder and blend well.
  • Switch off the flame and yummy aloo fry is ready to serve.

Tips:

1. If potato looks too dry while cooking,then sprinkle some water to prevent it from burning.
2. Lemon juice or anardana powder instead of amchur powder.
3. Mustard oil is best for this recipe.
