Paneer Tikka

I just love paneer. I like to cook paneer in different ways whether its paneer bhujiya, paneer ka kheer , paneer pakode, dry paneer or gravy paneer. I can have it in any form. My hubby knows my love for paneer, so he cooked paneer tikka for me. It was awesome. I feel lucky to have such a nice husband who loves to cook delicious dishes for me. Paneer tikka is basically paneer marinated in spices paste and grilled with veggies. It can be served as snacks or starter. It tastes best with mint chutney. So I am going to share the recipe of mouth watering paneer tikka with you all.Hope you will try this out and let me know how it came out. Here goes the recipe:

Ingredients:

  • 250 grams paneer or cottage cheese
  • 1 large tomato diced after removing seeds
  • 1 large green bell pepper diced in square shape
  • 1 large sized onion diced in square shape
  • for the marinade:
  • 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 to 2 teaspoons red chili powder
  • ½ teaspoon turmeric powder (haldi)
  • 1 teaspoon jeera powder (cumin seeds powder)
  • 1 teaspoon dhania powder (coriander powder)
  • ½ teaspoon garam masala powder
  • 1 teaspoon dry mango powder (amchur powder)
  • 1 teaspoon chaat masala
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper powder, optional
  • juice of half lemon
  • 1 to 2 tablespoon oil or ghee or butter for brushing

Method:

1. In a large bowl add ginger garlic paste and all the spice powders.

2. Now add the veggies and paneer to the marinate.
3. Then marinate for atleast 2 hours or more in the refrigerator.
4. After that bring the marinated paneer and veggies at room temperature.
5. Skewer the veggies and paneer alternately on skewers or tooth picks.I use toothpicks here.
6.Then preheat the oven for 3 minutes at 180 degree celsius.
on a rack or a plate arrange the paneer skewers. brush some oil on the veggies and paneer.
7.Grill the paneer tikka for 20-25 minutes at 180 degree celsius.
8.After 10 minutes remove the skewers and turn the skewers to brush some more oil.
9. Now keep again in the oven and grill for a further 10-15 more.
10.Last step place paneer tikka on plate and sprinkle some chaat masala. Yummy paneer tikka is ready .
Serve the yummy panner tikka with mint chutney and onion rings with lemon wedges.

Notes:

To make paneer tikka on tava follow these steps:

  • use a non stick tava so that paneer does not stick while frying.
  • add two tablespoons besan in the marination. this will prevent the paneer from sticking to the tava and will give a good taste.
