Cheesy Potatoes Balls
Here goes the recipe:
Ingredients:
- 4 boiled potatoes / uble aloo - properly mashed
- 2 medium size onion / pyaaj - finely chopped
- 1 cup processed cheese cubes (square shape of 1 inch)
- 4 green chilies/ hari mirch, finely chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon oregano / mix herbs (gives nice flavour)
- 1 tablespoon gram flour / besan or all purpose flour/ maida (optional but recommended)
- 1/2 teaspoon garam masala powder
- 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder/ lal mirch powder
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder/ haldi powder
- 2 teaspoon fresh coriander leaves/ dhaniya patti finely chopped
- crushed roasted fine vermicilli / sewayee - for coating
- Oil for deep frying
- Salt to taste
Method:
- Add mashed potatoes , onions and other dry ingredients with salt in a mixing bowl except cheese cubes.
- Mix all the ingredients very well and keep aside.
- Then divide the mixture in small balls or portions.
- Take some oil in your palms, take small portion and smoothen it in a ball.
- After that make a small hole in center and stuff one cheese cube in it.
- Now close the ball carefully and smoothen it
- Keep making all the balls in the same way and keep aside.
- Then coat these balls with crushed roasted vermicilli and cheesy balls are ready to fry. I have flatten it a bit but you can give any shape.
- Now heat good amount of oil in a frying pan.
- When the oil is heated properly, then drop 2-3 balls in hot oil and keep the flame to medium. It is very important to cook these balls on medium flame, so that you can enjoy the melted cheese and properly cooked potato mixture while eating.
- Keep frying and flipping till the balls turns out golden brown in color.
- Serve immediately with Dip, Sauce or Chutney of your choice.
Cooking Tips:
1. If you do not want to deep fry these potato cheese balls, then you can bake them in oven at 450 degrees F for 10-12 minutes.
2. You can coat these balls with bread crumbs also.
3. In case there is a problem in deep frying the balls then first coat it with paste of all purpose flour + water and then coat with vermicilli or bread crumbs. Balls will not crack while frying.
